Jakarta – A student in Koja, North Jakarta, SR (16) was raped and impregnated by her boyfriend KML (19) whom she met through Instagram.

SR’s legal counsel, Amriadi Pasaribu, said the victim was also forced to drop out of school because she became pregnant after being raped by her boyfriend KML (19).
“She (SR) also felt desperate because her school previously said she could still study online, but recently the education office said that she could no longer attend school,” said Amriadi Pasaribu in his statement on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

Amriadi said that due to being raped twice and becoming pregnant, SR felt disappointed and mentally pressured.

The victim’s family also took her to the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to ensure that she receives proper protection and her rights are fulfilled.
SR eventually gave birth prematurely at eight months pregnant.
SR’s condition still experiences trauma so she is not ready to take on the role as a mother, due to the incident that happened to her.
“From what I see, she has trauma, and she is not ready to accept the presence of the child because she also does not understand how to have a child and what she should do,” he said.
In this case, it was found that SR was raped by KML (19) twice in September 2023. In March 2024, SR complained to her mother about not menstruating for several months.
The family then took SR to the doctor for an examination and it turned out she was pregnant. After that, SR and her mother went to KML’s house to demand accountability, but upon arrival, SR and her mother were not received well and were instead insulted.
The mother was angry and immediately reported the incident involving her daughter to the North Jakarta Metro Police.
Perpetrator Arrested
The North Jakarta Metro Police quickly responded to the report by securing and naming KML (19) as a suspect.
North Jakarta Chief of Police, Police Commissioner Gidion Arif Setyawan, said that the case is still under investigation by his team.
“In our investigative process, we have named a suspect. As of July 11, 2024, the suspect has been detained for the investigation process,” said Gidion.

Gidion said that KML came to the police station accompanied by his family for questioning.
Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit at the North Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Marotul Aeni, said that KML had twice failed to respond to police summons claiming illness.
“Indeed, there were several times he failed to appear, but the defendant’s side gave reasons of illness. Over time, he fulfilled his obligation to be examined. He absented himself or delayed the examination twice,” he said.
Because he raped his girlfriend until she became pregnant and gave birth without taking responsibility, KML (19) is charged under Article 81 and 82 of Law No. 23 of 2022 concerning Child Protection with a maximum prison sentence of nine years.
