Pinrang – SU (51), a man from Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi, dared to beat his wife’s affair, AB (53), by chopping her with a machete. SU committed the assault because he was jealous of his wife’s affair with the victim.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pinrang Police, Iptu Akhmad Risal, said that the assault was carried out by the perpetrator by chopping the victim’s head after finding his wife having an affair.
“He assaulted the victim by chopping her head after catching his wife with someone else,” said Akhmad when confirmed on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
He explained, the incident started when the perpetrator was looking for his wife to discuss the future of their marriage after separating. However, when the perpetrator arrived at a boarding house in the Paleteang area, he caught his wife being intimate with another man in the boarding house room.
“Initially, he just wanted to meet his wife to discuss the future of their marriage because they had separated. But when he arrived at the boarding house, he found a man suspected of being his wife’s affair in the room. There the perpetrator got angry and immediately assaulted them,” explained Akhmad.
As a result of the assault, the victim of his wife’s affair suffered an open wound on his head and was taken to the hospital. And so does the wife also suffered a number of injuries.
“There is a wound on the victim’s head because he was chopped by the perpetrator. Immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment,” he said.
The police, who received the report, immediately secured the perpetrator on Sunday, December 24 in the early morning. The perpetrator admitted to daring to assault because of emotions and jealousy after discovering his wife was having an affair.
“The perpetrator was immediately arrested after the incident. He has also admitted to his actions. His motive is because he felt emotional and jealous that the victim was dating or having an affair with his wife,” he said.
Currently, the perpetrator is undergoing questioning at the Pinrang Police Station for further legal process.
