Two young Pacu Jalur performers, Wirotirta and Aryana, could not hide their wide smiles during the Independence Day celebrations at Merdeka Palace on Sunday. The event was held to commemorate Indonesia’s 80th anniversary, and the children had the honor of performing before President Prabowo Subianto. Their excitement was palpable as they expressed their happiness and enthusiasm for the opportunity to shake hands with the President. Dressed in vibrant green traditional Malay attire, the Pacu Jalur children mesmerized the audience with their synchronized and energetic movements, showcasing the pride of regional culture on a national platform. The cheers and applause from the crowd added to the festive atmosphere at the palace grounds. The celebration also featured a pencak silat troupe demonstrating their martial arts skills, followed by a performance by action star Iko Uwais showcasing the traditional Indonesian art of self-defense. The event culminated with the enchanting Tari Payung Merah Putih (Red-and-White Umbrella Dance), enhancing the celebratory spirit of Independence Day. The children expressed their pride and gratitude for the President’s kindness, wishing him good health and blessings.
