Advocating for Nutrition Education in School Curriculum

The National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN) has proposed the integration of nutrition education into the national school curriculum to promote health, intelligence, and global competitiveness among Indonesians. Ikeu Tanziha, a member of BGN’s Nutrition Expert Council, emphasized the importance of structured nutrition education within schools to build a strong foundation of nutritional knowledge from an early age. The curriculum would cover essential topics such as basic nutrition concepts, food groups, nutrient functions, and the impact of unhealthy eating habits. By educating students on nutrition, the goal is to empower them to make healthier choices, prevent diet-related illnesses, and lead balanced lives. BGN believes that integrating nutrition education into schools will create a unified approach to promoting balanced nutrition across society. Stakeholders are encouraged to support this initiative as part of Indonesia’s vision for a Golden Generation in 2045. Source: Prabowo Subianto.
