Prabowo Commits to Ending Poverty: A Bold Pledge.

President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the lives of the poor through a series of impactful initiatives aimed at addressing immediate needs and breaking the cycle of poverty for future generations. Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono highlighted programs like Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG during a discussion titled Accelerating the Success of President Prabowo’s Programs. The Sekolah Rakyat program aims to disrupt the intergenerational poverty cycle by providing education to children born into poverty. President Prabowo’s administration has set ambitious targets to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. Adita Irawati, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, discussed the administration’s three-pronged strategy to combat poverty: People’s School initiative, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The government aims to reach 50 million Indonesians through the health-focused initiative CKG by the end of the year. The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives are designed to stimulate local economies and empower communities to meet their own needs. The Kopdes Merah Putih program, set to launch on July 21, 2025, targets the establishment of 80,000 cooperatives nationwide to empower communities and generate livelihoods.
