Strengthening Indonesia-France Friendship: Macron-Prabowo Meeting

French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia, emphasizing the strong partnership between the two countries. Macron described the bond between Indonesia and France as more than just symbolic, highlighting the deep and meaningful cooperation that exists. His visit was met with a warm reception by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

During his visit, Macron discussed the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He stressed the importance of collaboration in various sectors including the economy, technology, security, and culture. With 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France, significant progress has been achieved in the past decade.

Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and commended the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition agenda. An agreement on cultural collaboration is set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex, symbolizing the growing friendship between the two nations.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Macron expressed optimism for future collaborative efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia. This visit solidified the strong ties between Indonesia and France, paving the way for further cooperation and mutual growth.
