Ministers Meeting to Reemploy Sritex Workers

Ministers from the Red and White Cabinet recently convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the pressing issue of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The meeting was centered around Prabowo’s directive for ministers to find viable solutions for the affected workers. Among the key figures present were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the welfare of the workers and stressed the urgent need to address the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The primary objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees by introducing a new working scheme within the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the efforts of the curator in working towards the potential rehiring of former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to offering support and guidance is anticipated to bring much-needed relief to the PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively advocating for the rights of PT Sritex Group employees by ensuring they receive proper layoff compensation and other entitled benefits. Meanwhile, the PT Sritex Curator Team is actively engaged in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, a move that is expected to pave the way for the reemployment of the workers who were laid off. This proactive step is aimed at providing stability to the affected employees and offering a sustainable solution to their existing predicament.
