Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, president-elect for the period of 2024-2029, wants to execute the program of providing free nutritious meals for school children efficiently without any leakage.
How this will be realized is thoroughly discussed in an exclusive interview by tvOne entitled “Prabowo Subianto Speaks for Indonesia” aired on Wednesday, (22/5) night.
Prabowo stated that the budget for the nutritious meal program intended for students in schools has been calculated and he is optimistic about being able to realize it.
“We have calculated that we are capable of it, the issue of organization, not necessarily we are currently thinking about it, whether it needs a special ministry or just a body, I think it’s not about the organization but the important thing is the scheme, the system, until it is realized until the children with precision,” explained Prabowo.
Prabowo said that he strives for no leakages in the implementation of the program in his future government.
“The problem is, I have been talking about this for a long time, there is a phenomenon as a nation’s child that we are aware that there are many leakages in our country. Now, how do we create a scheme efficiently and well, with no leaks reaching our children,” said Prabowo.
Regarding the distribution of free milk to children throughout Indonesia, it will also be executed according to the typology of each region.
Prabowo exemplified in one area in Southwest Maluku, namely Moa Island which often produces cow’s milk. Therefore, it is not too difficult to get milk production that can be reached by children in the Moa region.
“And the issue of milk. We will see that it depends on the region, for example in Southwest Maluku, Moa Island, they have many milking buffaloes, there are buffaloes producing milk, there are also areas with many goats, so we can get goat’s milk and we must consider this,” explained Prabowo.
Meanwhile, in other regions where it is difficult to obtain a source of milk, the focus can be on equal distribution of nutritious food such as fish and eggs.
“If we look at the protein in milk, it turns out that the protein and minerals and other nutrients in eggs are better than milk, experts have told me and eggs are cheaper than milk in some areas, so we concentrate on eggs, fish, and so on,” continued Prabowo.
Therefore, Prabowo emphasized that the distribution of nutritious food and free milk to children in Indonesia will be flexible according to the typology of each region.
“So, we have to adjust our plans to the different typologies and conditions of each region. We should not standardize one pattern in Indonesia, there are mountainous areas, coastal areas, islands. So, we must always be flexible, the important thing is that our children can have nutritious food. I think that is our goal,” concluded Prabowo.
